Flightless Goonies are Goonies without wings. They appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Yoshi Touch & Go, Yoshi's Island DS, Yoshi's New Island, Yoshi's Woolly World, Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World and Yoshi's Crafted World.
In the Yoshi's Island games, if a Yoshi eats a Goonie and then spits it out, throws an egg at it, or spits out an enemy at it, it will become a Flightless Goonie, though, some of them already lack wings. Different from other enemies, stomping on them will not send Yoshi into the air. Later in the games, Flightless Skeleton Goonies appear. A Flightless Goonie's primary method of attack is running into Yoshi. They usually appear in packs.
Out of all the crafts in Yoshi's Crafted World, while most Flightless Goonies are made of "flocky" material, six of them are made of cut cardboard and requested by Fin Blockafeller for his second souvenir request, and one is made of an egg carton requested by the Blockafeller of Sky-High Heights. Additionally, there is a Flightless Goonie costume for Yoshi to wear.
Profiles[edit]
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3=[edit]
- Shogakukan guide: 虫のようだが、鳥の仲間。せかせかと地面を駆けていく。団体行動が基本。[1] (It looks like an insect, but it is a bird. It rushes about the ground in a hurry. Its basic behavior is to act in groups.)
- Player's Guide: If you hit a Goonie with an egg, or eat one and spit it out, its wings will fall off and it will run away even faster than it flew.[2]
- Shogakukan guide (Game Boy Advance version): 虫にも見えるが、鳥の仲間。せかせかと地面をかけていく。団体行動が基本。[3] (It looks like an insect, but it is a bird. It hurries to move over the ground. Its basic behavior is to act in groups.)
Yoshi Touch & Go[edit]
- Shogakukan guide: 羽が取れたあほ一どり。地面に落下すると、せかせかと画面外へ駆けていく。足が速いので、地上で倒すのは難しい。着地前をねらってタマゴを当てたい。[4] (A foolhardy bird with its wings removed. When they fall to the ground, they rush off the screen. It is difficult to defeat them on the ground because they are fast. Aim to hit it with an egg before it lands.)
Yoshi's New Island[edit]
- Shogakukan guide: 地面をすばやく移動する。タマゴにできるが、群れで行動することが多いため、食べている間に後ろの敵に触れやすい。無理をして食べるよりも踏んで倒そう。[5] (They move quickly on the ground. They can be made into eggs, but since they often act in groups, they can easily touch enemies behind them while they are being eaten. Rather than eating them by forcing them, step on them and take them down.)
