Eggo-Dils[1] are enemies resembling daisies with smiley faces in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (and its reissue), Yoshi's Island DS, and Yoshi's New Island. Their name is a portmanteau of "egg" and "daffodil." Each Eggo-Dil has five yellow petals that spawn when a Yoshi draws near and rotate around the enemy for a while, being launched in different directions afterwards. After losing its petals, the Eggo-Dil's head shrinks and regrows with another set of petals, repeating its attack pattern afterward. The petals of an Eggo-Dil can damage a Yoshi, but he can also swallow and convert them into eggs. It is possible for every petal on an Eggo-Dil's head to fall off, shrinking and stunning the enemy, if the player does a Ground Pound nearby. However, the enemy's head regrows itself as well as its petals soon after. A Chomp Rock can destroy the enemy permanently, as can a Giant Egg, which turns it into a star.

An Eggo-Dil also appears in Tetris Attack, where it is partnered with a Flying Wiggler.

Profiles[edit]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]

  • Shogakukan guide: クルクル回る花びらがクセモノ。近くでヒップドロップをすれば、花びらを全部落として気絶する。タマゴの補給には便利な敵。[2] (The spinning petals are peculiar. Hip-dropping nearby will cause it to drop all of its petals and faint. A useful enemy for replenishing your supply of eggs.)
  • Player's Guide: These fast growers are indestructible, but their petals provide a full supply of eggs.[1]
  • Shogakukan guide (Game Boy Advance version): クルクル回ってから四方に飛び散る花びらはぶつかると痛いが、食べればタマゴにできる。近くでヒップドロップすると花びらが全部落ちて気絶。[3] (The petals, which spin around and then scatter in all directions, are painful when they hit you, but if you eat them you can turn them into eggs. If you hip-drop near it, all the petals will fall off and it will faint.)

Yoshi's New Island[edit]

  • Shogakukan guide: 花のような敵で、5枚の花びらを飛ばして攻擊してくる。花びらを食べてタマゴを作ることはできるが、ニコプーフラワー本体を食ベることはできない。[4](It is a flower-like enemy that attacks by sending five petals flying. You can eat the petals to make eggs, but you cannot eat the Eggo-Dil itself.)
