- This article is about the recurring object originally from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. For the object that commonly appears in Super Mario Bros. 2, see Jar. For the enemy from Virtual Boy Wario Land, see Vase (enemy). For the warp vase from Yoshi's Story, see Vase (Yoshi's Story).
- "Pot" redirects here. For the power-ups from Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, see Power Up Pot.
Vases,[1] also called pots[2][3] or flower pots,[4] appear as interactable objects in several Yoshi platform games, mainly those in the Yoshi's Island series.
History
Yoshi franchise
In the Yoshi franchise, vases first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They are about Yoshi's size, and they are often found in castles. They can be pushed down, breaking when they fall off a platform and revealing contents (usually a key). One of these vases is even "powered up" by Kamek, forming Roger the Potted Ghost. Vases also appear on Incoming Chomps' platforms in Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, though they are not there in the original game.
In Yoshi's Island DS, vases appear and similar objects are utilized by the Potted Ghost enemy. In Yoshi's Crafted World, they return and can be found as a craft.
Mario Kart series
On the Yoshi's Island course in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart Tour, two vases can be seen on ledges in front of windows inside the castle.
