Mario Party Superstars (Homestretch):
“We’re here, everyone! This is Space Land!!! This is a space station. As a deep-space crossroads, many spaceships pass by here. You shall join the Space Patrol. Your job is to maintain peace in space! Your objective this time, is to protect this station from Black Hole Bowser, plunderer of outer space. Keep deep space a peaceful place to become the Super Star of Space Land!”

Space Land is a space station in Mario Land from Mario Party 2. In Space Land, players are dressed as astronauts and are members of the Space Patrol.

Players who land on a Happening Space make a Thwomp or a Whomp in a space cruiser chase that player, and any other players in the way, to the other side of the board. However, there is also a group called the Snifit Patrol that assists a player if they pay five Coins. Upon doing this action, a Snifit (specifically the Super Mario 64 version in the original) will set up a speed trap. If players land on a Happening Space with a Snifit on patrol, the speeder will chase them down as usual, but then the Snifit chases them down the bottom or top side of the board, with any players in the way being chased as well. The main part of this board, however, is the Bowser-faced junction with a seven-segment numeric display in its mouth. Every time it is passed by, it counts down one unit. It always starts at five, and when it reaches zero, the villain of the board, Black Hole Bowser, will fire the Bowser Coin Beam from his satellite, located at the top right corner of the map, if there is at least one player in the path of the Bowser Coin Beam. Any players that get caught in the blast (which fires in a straight line along the diagonal path across the board) lose all their coins. The Item minigame is Hammer Slammer, and the Duel minigame is Time Bomb.

At the end of the game when Toad is about to announce the winner, he is interrupted by a red Koopa Troopa who comes and alerts the players that Black Hole Bowser is attacking the station. A cutscene then shows a bunch of Koopas running away, when one of the green ones falls over, and sees Bowser right in front of him. He traps the Koopa between his two lasers, until the winner of the game comes to confront him. They fire their laser at Bowser, but it does not work. They then try to get behind Bowser to attack, but he keeps blocking. The winner then runs around Bowser quickly, making him dizzy, and allowing his backside to be exposed and zapped by the winner. Black Hole Bowser is sent flying, leaving the winner to congratulate by the other players, Toad, Koopa, and the Star.

Space Land returns in Mario Party Superstars. In this game, players no longer wear special outfits for the board, and the space layout is slightly different. The junction showing the countdown number has been redesigned with eight lights surrounding the exterior and eight lights surrounding the numeric display inside and Bowser's face has been removed. The numeric display for the Bowser Coin Beam countdown is now in the Super Mario font. Unlike in Mario Party 2, when the Bowser Coin Beam countdown reaches zero, Bowser will fire the Bowser Coin Beam, regardless of whether any players are in the path of the beam or not. Additionally, all potential Star Spaces have a metal strip marked with a Star next to them. The original ending is no longer present, as those who did not win the game are chased off by speeders, from fourth to second in that order.

Trivia[edit]

  • In Mario Party 2, when a player lands on a ? Space, their Player Panel changes to blue due to the chase ending on a Blue Space. In Superstars, it instead remains green.
  • In Mario Party 2, the Snifit Patrol sends players to the diagonal path, in the direction to the middle. In Superstars, the players get sent to the last space of the diagonal path, but in the direction away from the middle.
