“Ehee hee hee! So you're after it too? Well, you'll have to race me for it!”
Spooky Speedster, Super Mario Galaxy

The Spooky Speedster (referred to as Spooky in his trading card description) is a character in Super Mario Galaxy. He is an Atomic Boo who wears a helmet and an orange visor. The Spooky Speedster is first encountered in the Ghostly Galaxy, where Mario races him in the Boo Race Zone during A Very Spooky Sprint, and reappears in Boo's Boneyard Galaxy. When Mario meets the Spooky Speedster, he calls the Power Star "it," assuming Mario is also after "it," and when at the start of a race, the Spooky Speedster pulls his visor down over his eyes. In both cases, when Mario is first to cross the finish area, the Spooky Speedster gives him the Power Star, otherwise he loses a life.

Along with Cosmic Mario, the Spooky Speedster is a rough equivalent to Koopa the Quick and Il Piantissimo, characters who similarly race Mario for a reward.
