History

Super Mario series

Super Mario 3D Land

Para-Biddybuds are enemies in Super Mario 3D Land. They are encountered in groups and fly in circles or in lines. Some groups are seen one above the other or one after the other. Mario can defeat them with any attack, just like Goombas. They generally appear in groups of five, though there are some levels in which less than that number are shown together or they appear individually.

Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

Para-Biddybuds are enemies in Super Mario 3D World and its Nintendo Switch port. They behave identically as in Super Mario 3D Land. Cat variants appear in Lake Lapcat in the port's Bowser's Fury side-story.

Super Mario Maker

Para-Biddybuds are referenced in Super Mario Maker by appearing on the icon of the Event Course Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, which uses key art from the game on which it is based.

Mario Party series

Mario Party: Island Tour

Many Para-Biddybuds populate the Star-Crossed Skyway board in Mario Party: Island Tour. However, they do not affect gameplay. A pink one also appears as a tile in the minigame Match Faker.

Super Mario Party Jamboree

Para-Biddybuds reappear in Super Mario Party Jamboree in the minigame Squeaky Shakedow where they are present in the background, and can occasionally appear in the minigame Camera-Ready. They are also featured in the Paratroopa Flight School mode and appears in Sky Battle (where the main objective is to try to gather as many of them as possible and steal them from the other player) and Free Flight.

Mario Kart series

Despite Para-Biddybuds themselves not appearing in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a kart designed after a Para-Biddybud appears, known as the Biddybuggy. Said kart later reappears in Mario Kart Tour. It has five different color schemes depending on the character driving it, two of which appear in Tour. The Biddybuggy appears as a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

A Para-Biddybud Mii Racing Suit appears in Mario Kart Tour starting in the 2023 Doctor Tour. This suit later appears in the sixth wave of the Booster Course Pass DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Para-Biddybuds are usable troops in the Bowser Jr.'s Journey mode in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. Red, green, yellow, and blue color variants can be used, and each has a different Special. Despite their coloration, blue Para-Biddybuds are referred to as purple in this game. They are flying troopers, and red Para-Biddybuds are strong against Fawfulcopters, while the purple variants are strong against Shy Guys and Bandits. All four variants are weak against red Koopa Troopas and Fly Guys, however.
