Lava tides,[1] also known as rising lava,[2] appear in the Super Mario franchise as a lava-related hazard that moves up or down, though the precise direction varies between appearances.

Lava tides in New Super Mario Bros. appear only in World 4-Tower and World 8-6, where they constantly rise up.

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]
