Categories[edit]
Hello, a few things to note regarding categories:
- First consider if the type is worth creating a category for. If only a handful of articles will use it, it shouldn't be created.
- If you're linking to a new one, it needs to be all lowercase unless there's a proper noun (e.g. "Haunted Forests" should be "Haunted forests"); if it exists, make sure the link works properly (showing a blue link instead of red; e.g. "Haunted Areas" should be "Haunted areas").
- When linking a category, it should be ordered: general type categories first (ordered by importance), then game-specific categories last (ordered alphabetically), so "Ice caves" should be listed before "New Super Mario Bros. U levels" for example.
- After you've linked a new category, you're allowed to create it by clicking the resulting red link. You just need to add a description and any categories it belongs to.
I recommend you read over any relevant sections in MarioWiki:Categories like "Size and scope" and "Order on pages" first. Mario JC 22:02, July 7, 2022 (EDT)
- The ice caves category does not need the locations category, since underground areas and snowscapes are already subcategories of it, making the locations category redundant. It was removed previously for that very reason, yet you added it back without explaining why. Don't do that. 14:10, July 14, 2022 (EDT)
Please stop adding redundant categories to articles. If a category already on an article is already categorised under a category you're adding (e.g. "Haunted forests" is under "Haunted areas", "Lakes" is under "Aquatic areas"), then you don't need to add the latter.
Also, you're not ordering categories correctly as I explained above. It should be type categories by significance ("Swamps", "Underground areas" etc.) first, followed by game-specific categories alphabetically (categories with game titles in front of them like "Super Mario Bros. enemies", "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker levels" etc.), not everything alphabetically. Minor edits[edit]
One other thing, if you're only adding/removing categories in an edit, you should mark small edits like this as minor by clicking the "This is a minor edit" checkbox above the "Save changes" button, otherwise making too many of these makes it hard for users to filter them out on the recent changes page. Second-person writing[edit]
Hello, Lb110906! Thanks for your contributions. When writing, avoid using first- and second-person perspective with pronouns like "you". As an encyclopedia site, we write in third-person and not from a specific person's point of view or referring directly to the reader, so the term "the player", or the character's name, should instead be used in the pronouns' place. |

Italics[edit]
Hello, Lb110906! Thanks for your contributions. When writing titles for media like games, films, TV shows, and publications, please remember to italicize them. This is done by placing two straight apostrophes (not quotation marks or curly apostrophes) on both sides of the title, or clicking on the I icon above the text box and typing out the title. For example, typing out ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' generates Super Mario Bros.
If you are using a device that uses curly ("smart") punctuation, you may need to disable this function in your device's settings to be able to type out the correct apostrophes. |

Puffprod Peaks[edit]
Please stop reverting this edit; unless there's a clear indication of it being in a space setting, the level just being set in the night sky doesn't always mean it's a "cosmic area". Mario JC 22:35, August 27, 2023 (EDT)
Mario Wonder enemies[edit]
Since the game is still upcoming, make sure to tag any edits you add to the game page with a reference of where you got the information from (see the other enemies on the list). Mario JC 02:06, September 1, 2023 (EDT)
