Ice Snake Block
The Ice Snake Block from New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Ice Snake Blocks are objects in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They are a type of Snake Block appearing in World 3-Castle and function identically to normal Snake Blocks, aside from being slippery. Throughout the entirety of the level, they move over bottomless pits. The Penguin Suit, however, allows the player to move freely on the platform without slipping. Only two Ice Snake Blocks are found in the level: the first one that leads to the midway point, and the second one that leads to Lemmy Koopa.

Ice Snake Blocks were also originally going to reappear in New Super Mario Bros. U, along with a large variant, but they were removed from the final game.

Ice Snake Blocks can be emulated in Super Mario Maker 2 by placing a Snake Block in the nighttime snow course theme. Additionally, Fast Snake Blocks bear a resemblance to the Ice Snake Block.

Ice Snake Blocks appear during the New Super Mario Bros. Wii arc of Super Mario-kun. In volume 41, Lemmy uses his Magic Wand to create Ice Snake Blocks, which act like an actual snake and attempt to strangle Mario. The monster is destroyed using a Fire Flower.
