- “If I give up any more Grand Stars, my dad's gonna get MAAAAAAD! So this calls for my ultimate weapon! Give 'em some heat, King Kaliente!”
- —Bowser Jr., Super Mario Galaxy
Bowser Jr.'s Lava Reactor is a Bowser Jr. galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This is where Mario battles King Kaliente for the second time and receives a Grand Star. The galaxy is an extremely large planet made out of lava with very few rocks. The Japanese name implies it is used for making monsters.
Planets/Areas[edit]
Starting Planet[edit]
The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an acceptable name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.
This planet is small, made of dirt and is half-gone with a black hole in its core. It is composed of multiple islands of varying sizes that Mario has to jump between, and his Long Jump technique can cross some of the gaps, which can make for a shortcut to save time. There are several Goombas and one Bullet Bill launcher. There are also several cages that can be broken by a Bullet Bill that contain items such as coins, a 1-Up Mushroom and a Launch Star.
Lava Reactor[edit]
The Lava Reactor[1] is a large star-like entity made up solely of lava. There are several sinking platforms around its northernmost region in a circle formation, with more sinking platforms in a path-like formation across its southernmost region where Mario lands. It bears a resemblance to Solar from the Star Fox franchise. It is home to King Kaliente and is where Mario fights him for the second time. Unlike the first time, King Kaliente will launch the first coconut back, meaning it must be hit twice, like the second one. When King Kaliente is defeated, the platforms no longer sink.

Music[edit]
Throughout most of the level, A Tense Moment plays, being a 24-second ominous tune in E minor. During his battle, the music that King Kaliente uses plays. After King Kaliente is beaten, a calm song called "Star Chance" plays.
Trivia[edit]
- Despite having his Airship destroyed at his Airship Armada, Bowser Jr. somehow gets his Airship back before the fight against King Kaliente.
- This is the only one of Bowser Jr.'s reactors to not use the Good Egg Galaxy's background, which his Robot Reactor and Airship Armada have; it is a pitch-black background instead.
- This is one of the few Galaxies where a Launch Star leads to a different spot on the same planet rather than a different planet entirely.
- There is a glitch in this galaxy where one can perform a triple jump onto the cage with the 1-Up Mushroom on the Starting Planet and Star Spin at the height of the jump to actually fall on to the Lava Planet, similar the one in Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor; however, unlike the latter when the player lands on the solid planet where Megaleg was, since Mario or Luigi will fall nowhere near where the launch star would take him, the player has no choice but to lose a life by bouncing on the lava.[2]
