Scarecrow is one of the status effects Mario and his crew can be afflicted with in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and its remake. Like the Mushroom effect, it causes the one afflicted to become unable to attack normally. It is caused by enemy attacks such as Scarecrow Funk and Scarecrow Bell. While a Scarecrow, Mario and his party can use magic and defend but not attack physically or use items. Each attack can be blocked if the member who is attacked has a Trueform Pin, Safety Badge, Safety Ring, Super Suit, or Lazy Shell.
