Max Nuts are consumables used by Mario and Luigi in the Mario & Luigi series. They restore Heart Points to both brothers during a single turn. They do not appear in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and unlike their weaker variants (Nuts, Super Nuts, and Ultra Nuts), they do not have a counterpart.

History

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

Nut

Max Nuts first appear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, fully healing both brothers when used. It can be bought from Castle Town Item Shop for 220 coins after all four Beanstar pieces are collected. Certain enemies can drop them after a battle: Bowletta has a 61.29% chance, Morton and Wendy are guaranteed to drop them no matter what, and Hermie III and Jojora are guaranteed to drop them while using the Game Boy Horror SP.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

Max Nuts reappear in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, albeit with a reduced recovery, healing 160 Heart Points. They cannot be purchased from shops. Instead, they can only be obtained from defeated enemies, ? Blocks, or from successful Mighty Meteor attacks. Junker is guaranteed to drop them after being defeated, Alarm Bob-ombs have a 25% chance, Dark Fawful Guys have a 20% chance, and Air Cannons and the head of Dark Mechawful have a 10% chance.

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, Max Nuts restore all HP for both brothers instead of 160.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Icon for the Nuts in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Max Nuts appear in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team with a reduced recovery of eighty Heart Points. They cost 675 coins to buy after reaching Somnom Woods. Chain Chomps have an 8% chance of dropping them after a battle.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

Max Nuts in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam use the same sprite and heal the same amount (80 HP) as they did in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Shiny Paper Fuzzies and Wendy O. Koopa (during her second battle) are assured to drop them after being defeated, while Broozers and the Fuzzies' second appearance have a 4% chance.
