History
Super Mario series
New Super Mario Bros.
Lava tides debut in New Super Mario Bros., only appearing in World 4-Tower and World 8-6, where they constantly rise up.
Super Mario Galaxy
In Super Mario Galaxy, lava tides[1] appear in Freezeflame Galaxy and Melty Molten Galaxy, where they rise but also fall.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, lava tides rise up constantly in World 8-6 and drain in World 8-Bowser's Castle once the ! Switch is activated.
New Super Mario Bros. 2
In New Super Mario Bros. 2, lava tides appear in World 5-Tower, World 6-Bowser Castle, and World Star-Castle where they only rise up.
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
In New Super Mario Bros. U, lava tides appear in only one level, Rising Tides of Lava. In New Super Luigi U, they appear in Current Event.
Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
In Super Mario 3D World, lava tides only appear in Simmering Lava Lake and Captain Toad's Fiery Finale where they rise and fall.
Super Mario Maker 2
In Super Mario Maker 2, the player can set the level and speed of lava tides.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, lava tides only appear during the Draggadon boss levels, where lava rises up constantly.
