Goomboard
A Goomboard in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch).
First appearance Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch) (2024)
Variant of Goomba

A Goomboard is a unique enemy in the Nintendo Switch remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. They are crude cardboard cutouts with a Goomba drawn on them, made by the Battle Master himself. Goomboards are only fought in the Battle Master's training sessions, serving as indestructible enemies that deal no damage. Its Max HP, Attack, and Defense stats are undefined. If Mario chooses to practice guarding, the Battle Master grabs hold of a Goomboard and jumps at Mario, although this attack deals no damage.

Similar cardboard Goombas are seen in Paper Mario: Color Splash, serving as a target in the Action Command Dojo; and in Paper Mario: The Origami King, as part of a training machine used to practice blocking in the Battle Lab. The former goes unnamed, and the latter Training Mannequin is designed after an origami Goomba.

Profiles

  • Tattle: "That's a Goomboard! It's...a Goomba drawn on a board. I think the master made this. He's surprisingly talented! It's...unclear what its Max HP is. No Attack or Defense either. This thing is STURDY though! It won't break no matter how hard you hit it, so don't hold anything back!"
  • Tattle Log: "This Goomboard was handmade by the Battle Master for training purposes. It's so sturdy, not even Bowser could splinter it! At least, not on the first try."
