Triple Mushrooms (known as Triple Dash Mushrooms in certain British English releases) are clusters of three Dash Mushrooms appearing as items in the Mario Kart series.
History[edit]
Mario Kart 64[edit]
Triple Mushrooms first appear in Mario Kart 64. When used, they grant the player three consecutive speed boosts that can be used one-by-one. The effect wears off once the last Mushroom is used.
Mario Kart: Super Circuit[edit]
Triple Mushrooms return in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, behaving exactly the same as in Mario Kart 64; however, they only appear in Time Trial mode and VS mode.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!![edit]
Triple Mushrooms reappear in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, behaving the same as in previous games. If the player is hit by an offensive item while holding Triple Mushrooms, they lose two of the Mushrooms.
Mario Kart DS[edit]
Triple Mushrooms return in Mario Kart DS, behaving the same as in past games. They can be obtained as semi-common items in 4th place or lower in Grand Prix and VS modes, and can also be collected as uncommon to rare items by mediocre and poorly-performing players in Battle Mode.
Mario Kart Wii[edit]
Triple Mushrooms return in Mario Kart Wii, behaving exactly the same as in previous games. They can be obtained as semi-common items in 3rd place or lower in Grand Prix and VS modes; in Battle Mode, they are usually obtained as uncommon items by mediocre and poorly-performing players. The best chance of getting this item is in 9th place, with a 35 percent (14 out of 40) chance of getting it in said position.
Mario Kart 7[edit]
Triple Mushrooms return in Mario Kart 7, behaving exactly the same as in past games. In Grand Prix and VS modes, they can usually only be obtained in 3rd place or lower; in Battle Mode, human players can only obtain Triple Mushrooms at or near first place, and CPUs cannot obtain them.
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]
Triple Mushrooms return in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This time, the Mushrooms now orbit the player's kart, causing opponents who hit the kart to receive the effects of a Mushroom. In Grand Prix and VS modes, all players may obtain Triple Mushrooms at least roughly 2000 units from the frontrunner, though they are most common at roughly 6000 units; in Battle Mode, they can be obtained at any point, though they are much more common when the player has only one balloon left two minutes into a game of Balloon Battle or Bob-omb Blast.
Mario Kart Tour[edit]
In Mario Kart Tour, Triple Mushrooms are special items obtainable only by Toad, Toadette, White Shy Guy, Mario (Classic), Peach (Wedding), Mario (SNES), Luigi (Lederhosen), Mario (Racing), White Yoshi, Birdo (White), and the Toad, White and Toadette Mii Racing Suits. They function mostly the same, except that the player must tap the screen to use all Mushrooms consecutively at once. They offer a longer boost than a single Mushroom. When Triple Mushrooms+ is activated, the chance of obtaining Triple Mushrooms is increased, and they offer a slightly longer boost.
Profiles[edit]
Mario Kart Wii[edit]
- Trading card description: "Triple Mushrooms are a great find! Instead of the 1.5 second boost you get from a single Mushroom, if timed correctly you can get up to a 4.5 second boost of speed. Perfect for those times when you can cut through corners by going through an off-track infield area. Instead of slowing down because you've gone off the track, you boost right through the rough stuff and back onto the track."
- Game Tip!: "Be aware of WHEN you use each of the Triple Mushrooms. Use one too soon after another and you'll sacrifice some of the benefit of the one in effect."
Mario Kart 7[edit]
- Instruction manual description: "Triple Mushrooms can be used three times, each time providing the same effect as a Mushroom."
Mario Kart 8[edit]
- Instruction manual description: "Three mushrooms that spin around your vehicle. Press to use them one at a time."
Mario Kart Tour[edit]
- Tips & Tricks: "Why use just one Mushroom when you can use three? Tap the screen to use them all at once for a longer-lasting speed boost."
- Driver info: "Gives you three Mushrooms to use in one go for a long-lasting boost."
- Driver info (Triple Mushrooms+): "Increases your chances to get Triple Mushrooms and extends the dash time by a little."
