Sinking and Rising Mushrooms
The title of this article is from the English Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia, which reportedly sourced some names from fan wikis. If a higher-priority source is found, then the article should be moved to the new title.

Sinking and Rising Mushrooms[1] are types of Mushroom Platforms appearing in the Super Mario series and in Super Mario Odyssey.
History[edit]
New Super Mario Bros.[edit]
Sinking and Rising Mushrooms first appear in New Super Mario Bros. They are platforms that, when stood on, either rise or fall a certain length depending on their color; yellow-and-orange ones fall, whereas orange-and-red ones rise. They appear only in World 5-4, though a mechanical object that acts identically appears during the fight against Mega Goomba.
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
Sinking and Rising Mushrooms are objects in New Super Mario Bros. 2. They show the same behavior as in New Super Mario Bros., albeit with different color schemes; light-blue ones fall, whereas pink ones rise. They also now feature arrows indicating their direction. They appear in World 5-4 and the third level of the Gold Mushroom Pack.
Super Mario Odyssey[edit]
An 8-bit version of the Sinking Mushroom appears in Super Mario Odyssey, inside the folding screen bonus area in Bowser's Kingdom with the same behavior as in New Super Mario Bros. and the same color scheme as Mushroom Platforms in Super Mario Bros.
