Biddybuds are enemies in ''Super Mario 3D Land''. They first appear in [[World 1-3 (Super Mario 3D Land)|World 1-3]], and go on to be common enemies throughout the game. Biddybuds appear mainly in groups of two to five and walk in a set pattern, often circular. Mario can defeat them with any type of attack. Biddybuds have flying variant known as [[Para-Biddybud]]s.

Biddybuds are enemies resembling multicolored ladybugs that appear in red, yellow, blue, green, and pink varieties. Biddybuds first appear in Super Mario 3D Land. In the platforming games, Biddybuds walk along the ground on a set path, similarly to Goombas, but do not chase the player character upon sight. Biddybuds make alternating high- and low-pitched sounds that can be heard if the player is near them, typically matching the rhythm of the background music.

History[edit]

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario 3D Land[edit]

Biddybuds are common enemies in Super Mario 3D Land, and are first found in World 1-3. Many appear in groups of two to five, moving in often circular patterns, and can be defeated from any attack. They have a winged variety named Para-Biddybuds.

Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]

Biddybuds retain their role in Super Mario 3D World and its port, now in larger groups but in fewer levels. Bowser's Fury gives Biddybuds fur, tails, and cat ears, though they are no different in behavior.

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

Biddybuds are referenced in Mario Kart 8 and its port in the form of a kart called the Biddybuggy, more specifically based on their flying counterparts.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]

Biddybuds are enemies in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and its its ports, behaving identically as in previous games.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit]

A group of Biddybuds in Sunbeam Plains from Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Screenshot from Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam of a stack of Biddybuds in Sunbeam Plains

Biddybuds are enemies in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. They are found in Sunbeam Plains and Mount Brrr. Biddybuds can attack by walking straightforward into a Mario brother, though many are found in stacks, sometimes slowing down from from stumbling. Jumping on a stack only damages the topmost Biddybud, which falls off if defeated. Either a hammer or the 3D Red Shell can harm the lowest Biddybud of the stack, and other Biddybuds fall off if they take damage. Either Dropchopper or Cannonball Chuck damages every Biddybud in the stack.

Mario Tennis Aces[edit]

Biddybuds are non-playable characters in Mario Tennis Aces. In Adventure Mode, they are spectators in the Piranha Plant Forest court.

Mario Golf: Super Rush[edit]

Biddybuds are obstacles in Wildweather Woods in Mario Golf: Super Rush. They slow players in Speed Golf but can be jumped on for coins.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie[edit]

Three Biddybuds can be seen briefly walking by towards the beginning of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. They appear upon Mario's first meeting with Toad, causing a concerned and frightened Mario to jog away from them and follow Toad. They are featured in promotional posters for the film, including Mario's standalone poster. Unlike in the games, these Biddybuds are not part of the Koopa Troop, but are instead part of the Mushroom Kingdom's wildlife.

Super Mario Party Jamboree[edit]

Biddybuds are in the Showdown minigames Peach's Day Off, Yoshi's Mountain Race and Jr.'s Jauntlet in Super Mario Party Jamboree. They are sometimes in the 4-Player minigame Camera-Ready.
