Mario's Puzzle Party is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 3, a Puzzle minigame in Mario Party DS, and a Sports and Puzzles minigame in Mario Party Superstars. Mario Party 3 also includes a similar variation titled Mario's Puzzle Party Pro.
Overview[edit]
Players earn points by connecting blocks of the same color. Bricks serve a purpose akin to Garbage Blocks, while Thwomps squish the blocks on the field. The first player to achieve 100 points wins, though this can be changed in 100-point increments up to 1,000 in Free Play Room. If a player cannot place any more blocks, they are disqualified, and if this happens to three players, the last player remaining wins.
The Mario Party DS version is played from the Touch Screen. A lot of the changes make it more similar to Mario's Puzzle Party Pro, but the two-player version is closer to the original Mario's Puzzle Party. The character icons use their designs from Mario Party 3, as do the Thwomps. The top screen now indicates when Thwomps appear. If the player clears their screen, they receive 1,000 points. The player can also drop pieces instantly. The minigame also features levels, the highest being 99,[citation needed] with each level increasing the speed of gameplay and the number of points earned. The player gets one Mario Party Point per every forty points.
Mario Party Superstars features three versions. For one, the four-player version from Mario Party 3 is retained, but without the ability to change the number of target points in Free Play. The second involves two or three players and is played from Vs. Puzzles mode, but players can change the target score (but it is always 300 points online). The third is part of Score Attack, and it is essentially a port of Mario's Puzzle Party Pro, as the player tries to get as many points within three minutes, and Bricks fall on stage for every 100 points.
