Awful Tower is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 3. Its name is a pun on "Eiffel Tower," a tower in Paris, France.

Introduction[edit]

The minigame takes place around a rather tall block-like tower with stylized window covers. The background consists of a rainbow above the various trees at the bottom. Many of the colored blocks that move up and down repeatedly seemingly form a path to reach the top of the tower. The camera shows the whole tower, from top to bottom, and targets the player standing on the ground next to their individual tower as it stops. The minigame then begins.

Gameplay[edit]

The players must climb the tower by jumping onto the colored blocks that move up and down repeatedly. Players have to time their jumps right in order to reach the next colored block. The player has the option to collect coins located in certain places. Additionally, at certain points during the tower climb, a Hammer Bro riding on a cloud drops by and attempts to throw its hammers at the individual players in order to slow them down. If a player gets hit by one of the hammers, the player is stunned and falls down the tower slightly. The first player who reaches the last colored block jumps onto the Fwoosh that awaits at the top of the tower, thus winning the minigame. Players who collected extra coins that are scattered around the minigame keep them. If none of the players have reached the top within the time limit, the minigame ends in a draw.
