Raft Riot is a 4-Player and Duel minigame found in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on the phrase "laugh riot." It appears in Score Scuffle as the last minigame in the set.

Introduction[edit]

The characters drive their watercrafts to the starting gate. The watercrafts match their players' respective colors: Player 1's character uses a blue raft, Player 2's character uses a red raft, Player 3's character uses a green raft, and Player 4's character uses a yellow raft.

Gameplay[edit]

The minigame revolves around the concept of watercraft racing. Contestants race along on an aquatic track with a sort of obstacles and speed boosters as boost ramps, while they drive motorized rafts. Players must drive on their rafts and come to the finish line at first place to win. Also, players have to avoid obstacles such as buoys and also take some ramps to gain a boost of speed momentarily. If the characters crash, they bounce off whatever object they collided with, each other included. When played in Score Scuffle, the minigame ends once all players cross the finish line. If five minutes pass without anyone reaching the finish line or if everyone comes to the finish line at the same time, the minigame is considered a tie.

If a tie happens while everyone breaks the current record, it counts as a new record even though nobody won, as the screen says "Tie" after the "New Record" fanfare. This also applies to the other 4-Player/Duel minigames with a record system.

Ending[edit]

The characters stand on a bridge, where the winners celebrate their victory while the losers sulk.
