Dungeon Duos is a 2-vs-2 minigame found in Mario Party 4 and Mario Party Superstars. In Mario Party 4, a Shy Guy plate is awarded in the Present Room if the minigame is beaten within one minute and 30 seconds (in NTSC versions) or one minute and 40 seconds (in the PAL version).
Introduction[edit]
In a dungeon, the screen is split into two sections for each team. All four players jump out of Warp Pipes, and the game begins.
Gameplay[edit]
The minigame starts players off in a dungeon. One player on each team must pull a switch to lower a wall for the other player, then the other player must do the same. After each player has lowered two walls, the players come to a gap with a machine connecting two platforms. One player must spin a lever near the machine to turn the platforms, while the other player must jump on to be carried across. Once across, that player must spin a similar lever to help the first player across. If a player falls into the pit, a Lakitu brings them back to the first side. After both players are across, they come to another gap with a similar machine, this time with only one platform. The same process must be done with the second machine.
Once the team members have crossed both gaps, they come to a group of five Warp Pipes. Players must jump into each pipe, trying to find the correct one to proceed. Four of the Warp Pipes simply send the player out of another pipe upon that player jumping in. The correct pipe is indicated with a noise and the player appearing on the other side of the pipes. Once this section is clear, the team must repeat the process with a set of nine pipes.
The minigame concludes with inflating a large balloon. Players must alternate pressing and at regular intervals to inflate the balloon. The first team to inflate its balloon wins. If five or three minutes pass in Mario Party 4 or Mario Party Superstars, respectively, the minigame ends in a draw.
Ending[edit]
Once a team has managed to inflate its balloon, the losing team's players stay where they are and do their losing poses. The winning team's members climb into their balloon and fly out of the dungeon. The scene shifts to the sky, where the balloon with the winning team flies by, as the teammates do victory poses. If five minutes pass in Mario Party 4, all the players do losing poses.
