Ski Lifts, also referred to as Chairlifts, occasionally appear in snow-themed levels in the Super Mario franchise. They are fastened to tracks and are used to cross bottomless pits. The Gonzola is a similar object.

Yoshi's Island series[edit]
Ski Lifts in the Yoshi's Island series usually move back and forth along their rails, though sometimes instead they move in one direction and fall off when they reach the end. In many cases, they are already ridden in by Dr. Freezegoods which must be removed or avoided. Ski Lifts in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its remake are the titular focus of the stage Ride The Ski Lifts. Ski Lifts appear also in Yoshi's New Island, with the same role as in the predecessor in the level Ski Lift Leap.
Super Mario 64 / Super Mario 64 DS[edit]
A single Ski Lift (referred to as a gondola)[1] appears in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS, at the bottom of the explorable portion of Cool, Cool Mountain. It is on a diagonal rail stretching from near the Mother Penguin at the bottom up to near where the head portion of the Headless Snowman is. In the middle of its range is a small floating island with a Bob-omb Buddy, as well as a Star Switch in the remake. The Ski Lift always starts at the bottom, moving only once Mario, Yoshi, Luigi, or Wario lands on it and stopping again after it returns to the bottom if he has left it.
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]
Chairlifts appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and its remake as objects on the map of Razor Ridge.
