History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]

Banana Birds are supporting characters in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and its remake. They were separated from the Banana Queen during the game's events, and Dixie and Kiddy try to reunite them with her. A Banana Bird can usually be obtained from completing a memory challenge in a secret cave, releasing the Banana Bird gets from the crystal at the top of the ceiling. A few of the Banana Birds can be obtained from a Brother Bear. After the player characters rescue every Banana Bird, defeating Baron K. Roolenstein in the Knautilus, and return to Wrinkly's Save Cave or Wrinkly's Retreat in the remake, every Banana Bird flies themselves and the Kongs over to the Banana Queen. It is revealed that K. Roolenstein had cursed them, causing the babies to be imprisoned in crystal and the mother behind an evil barrier. All of the Banana Birds sing, breaking the barrier.

Banana Birds appear in the following locations:

Five additional Banana Birds were added in the remake:

Additionally, K's Kache has been relocated to a clifftop in the Northwest section of the Northern Kremisphere, as the Turbo Ski is capable of reaching the northwest lake in the Game Boy Advance remake.

Banana Birds are non-playable characters in Donkey Konga. In single-player mode only, Banana Birds hop around the lower part of the screen while Donkey Kong plays a song. They only act as scenery and have no in-game effect. Banana Birds appear in every musical performance mode ("Street Performance", "Challenge", and "Jam Session"). Only a few hop around the screen in "Jam Session."
