Belcha's Barn is the boss level of Lake Orangatanga, the first world of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! To proceed to the second world, Kremwood Forest, the Kongs must defeat Belcha. The battle takes place in a mill but has a factory background, which had later been fixed in the remake to make it consistent with mill levels in general.
Layout[edit]
The level begins in a small room with a trapdoor. If only one Kong is active, a DK Barrel is found beneath the trapdoor. The battle starts when the Kongs enter through the trapdoor. The fight takes place in a corridor with a pit on each side. In the Game Boy Advance version, the left pit has a spinning, spiked shaft.
Belcha repeatedly spits out a barrel as it slowly hops to the left, attempting to force Dixie and Kiddy into the turbine. If the Kongs fall into the left pit, they lose a life. In the Game Boy Advance version, the player falls through the turbine if they have only one Kong. If they have both Kongs, they will lose one and the turbine becomes intangible from that point on. To attack Belcha, the Kong must jump on the barrel to release the yellow Knik-Knak within. By doing so, Belcha starts gnashing its teeth. The Kongs must jump on the yellow Knik-Knak to flip it over and throw it into Belcha while its mouth is still open. This causes Belcha to burp, which propels it backward. The Kongs must continue the pattern of throwing a yellow Knik-Knak into Belcha's mouth until it falls into the pit on the right, trapping it and ending the battle. The Kongs can defeat Belcha by throwing a minimum of two yellow Knik-Knaks into its mouth, depending on how quick they are and if they did not miss any throws. When Belcha is defeated, it leaves behind a Bonus Coin, or a bear coin if he is optionally fought again.
Belcha's Barn has two glitches. One of them is performed by throwing a Knik-Knak into Belcha's mouth the exact moment it lands on the ground after a short hop, Belcha's teeth may fly off to the far right of the screen. This causes the Barrels to not spawn anymore, essentially softlocking the game.[1] The other glitch is performed by holding a Knik-Knak with Kiddy, and jumping on a Barrel spit out by Belcha, Kiddy may lose grip of the Knik-Knak, as it levitates to the right for a moment, before dropping to the ground again.[2]
