First appearance Yoshi's Woolly World (2015)
Latest appearance Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World (2017)

A checkpoint[1] is a flower with a face above an Arrow Sign in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. It initially appears to be asleep with its petals retracted and the arrow missing, but once the player passes through one, the face changes into a smiley, the arrow appears, and the petals unfold. Most courses have the arrows point right or left, but in one course, one checkpoint has its arrow point diagonally up and left. They are similar to Checkpoint Rings in the Yoshi's Island games. In Classic Mode, checkpoints grant each Yoshi five hearts to their health display and turn any onscreen enemies on the same layer as the Checkpoint into a heart. In Mellow Mode, checkpoints grant up to 19 hearts to Yoshi, fully healing them since the maximum number of hearts is twenty.[2] Enemies are turned into two hearts instead of one.
