Latest appearance Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World (2017)

A cannon bobbin is an object that appears throughout Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, appearing infrequently throughout a handful of levels. There is an arrow on it facing the screen. When entered, Yoshi unroll themselves into a series of threads and spin around the bobbin. If the player presses down on the +Control Pad/Control Stick, then the Yoshi returns to normal and drops down from the cannon bobbin. If the player presses A Button or B Button, a cannon bobbin fires Yoshi in a long arc starting from the direction its arrow points. Yoshi's lower body transforms into a bullet like shape with some thread trailing off while spinning in a spiral motion as he flies.

Three large cannon bobbins are a integral part of the boss battle against Mega Baby Bowser. While inside, Yoshi can only be reached by the flame pillars from Mega Baby Bowser's jump and stomp attack, and even then those do not inflict damage. If Yoshi drops out of these cannon bobbins, they instead lightly toss him to their left or right. This is because there is solid ground below the cannon bobbin. If the cannon bobbins shoot Yoshi, they send him to the other side of the circular tower. Mega Baby Bowser does not notice Yoshi's position for a while, offering time to hit the Wonder Wool near his back without having to outrun his line of sight. If Mega Baby Bowser uses his jump and stomp attack, the cannon bobbins' arrows spin around, stopping in a direction that is a reflection of their initial direction over the Y-axis. Yoshi is forced out of a cannon bobbin that spins in this way. Once Mega Baby Bowser is defeated, the cannon bobbins bounce Yoshi away as though they exited instead of grabbing them.

Specific cannon bobbins known as World Bobbins[1] also appear on the world map, transporting Yoshis from Craft Island to each of the worlds. The World Bobbins for the six worlds are colored red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, respectively.

Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World changes how World Bobbins are positioned. Instead, they are laid out in sequential order in the worlds and on Craft Island. For example, Craft Island only has a World Bobbin to go to World 1, World 1 has a World Bobbin at the start to return to Craft Island and a second World Bobbin at the end that goes to World 2, World 2 has a World Bobbin at the start to return to World 1 and a second World Bobbin at the end that goes to World 3, and so on. This holds until World 6, which does not have a World Bobbin at the end. There is a confirmation message when Yoshi walks to a World Bobbin. Responding "yes" will use the World Bobbin, responding "no" will return Yoshi to the level or location just before the World Bobbin. World Bobbins cannot be selected from the Touch Screen, though the player can select worlds or Craft Island on the Touch Screen to warp to those locations directly.
