Template:Catch Card Gloombas are blue Goombas that appear in every game from the Paper Mario series. Gloombas live deep underground, in areas such as Toad Town Tunnels and the Pit of 100 Trials. They are much more powerful than their surface-dwelling cousins. A Gloomba gets its blue hue from living without sunlight.
Gloombas may be based off the dark colored Goombas Mario encountered in the underground levels of Super Mario Bros. However, these Goombas were colored blue to represent the lack of sunlight; they were not a sub-species of Goomba.

Trivia
- In the Prima Super Paper Mario strategy guide, it states that Gloombas have the ability to poison the player, although this is false.
- In the Super Mario All-Stars remake of Super Mario Bros., blue Goombas appear in the underground levels. These are possibly Gloombas.
