Template:Species-infobox Item Balloons[1] (or Items Balloons[2]) also known as Baron von Zeppelins[3] or balloon bombs, are different colored balloons with smiley faces that appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island DS, Yoshi's New Island, Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. Item Balloons usually carry harmful or helpful items ranging from coins and extra lives to bombs and Needlenoses and/or Shy Guys. Item Balloons drop the item or enemy they are holding when a Yoshi goes under it (except in the case of 1-ups). A trio of Item Balloons also carry crates together. They also help in the final battle against Baby Bowser by dropping Giant Eggs.

In Yoshi's Story, a similar type of species called Air Bags appear.
