The swords are objects that appear in the Ruined Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey. They are large, ancient weapons thrust into the ground, suggesting they were used in battle. According to the kingdom brochure, their purpose remains a mystery, though it is clear that the residents of Crumbleden fought against some unknown threat. Mario can use Cappy to pry them out of the ground. Their design implies they were built for combat, but the exact nature of the conflict or what enemies they faced is left unexplained.
The swords are mechanically comparable to posts but cannot be ground-pounded.
