New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
Lava swells debut in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where they appear in two levels. In World 8-3, lava swells constantly move to the left. In World 8-Bowser's Castle, lava swells are created when Bowser stomps in lava.
Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]
In Super Mario Galaxy 2, lava swells appear in Melty Monster Galaxy on the Magma Sea Planet.
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
In New Super Mario Bros. U, lava swells appear in Iggy's Volcanic Castle.
In New Super Luigi U, lava swells appear in Iggy's Swinging-Chains Castle.
Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
Lava swells appear in Norfair, a stage appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. A fighter is knocked away if they touch one.
