Item Balloons[1] (or Items Balloons),[2] also known as Baron von Zeppelins,[3][4] balloon bombs, or Balloons,[5] are different-colored balloons with smiley faces that appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, Yoshi's Island DS, Yoshi's New Island, Yoshi's Woolly World, and Yoshi's Crafted World. Item Balloons usually carry harmful or helpful items ranging from coins and extra lives to bombs, Pokey projectiles, and Shy Guys, which are dropped if the balloons are popped with an egg (yarn ball in Yoshi's Woolly World), with Yoshi's tongue, by direct contact, or if a Yoshi goes under one if the item is harmful. A trio of Item Balloons also carries crates together. They also help in the final battle against Baby Bowser by dropping Giant Eggs. In Yoshi's Crafted World, these balloons can also be popped by Go-Go Yoshi's punches in the level named after it and the Triceratops skull in Dino Smash.
