Octolots are enemies that appear in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and its remake. They are first encountered in the Forest Maze. Octolots can fly by holding onto two bat-winged Paratroopa shells via long poles (although the Monster List entry in the Switch remake claims they are not Paratroopa shells). It is unknown whether the shells are a part of the creature itself or a separate entity entirely as they widen, akin to the creature's mouth, when spells are cast. They have very powerful magical attacks, much like their stronger relatives, Octovaders. Amanitas often accompany Octolots in battle.

Octolots appear to be based on Flying Octoroks from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.[1]
