Spaces are marked areas that appear throughout game boards in the Mario Party series. When stopped on, they will cause an event to occur which can range from benefiting the player to causing a massive event in the board. Depending on the number rolled by the Dice Block, they can be stopped on or passed. There are some Spaces which cannot be stopped on, such as the Star Space. Spaces are capable of holding four characters at once.

More than one character can stop on a space.

Throughout the Mario Party series there have been several different spaces. Some are recurring, but there are some that only appear in certain games. The shapes of the Spaces have also changed throughout the series, ranging from circular shape to hexagonal. Almost all Spaces have special features. The most common spaces that have appeared in nearly every Mario Party game are the Blue Spaces and Red Spaces, which add three coins and subtract three coins respectively.

“Different spaces have very different effects! Fortune! Or disaster! Anything goes!”
MC Ballyhoo, Mario Party 8

Spaces are marked areas that appear throughout game boards in the Mario Party series. When stopped on, they will cause an event to occur, which can range from benefiting the player to causing a massive event in the board. Depending on the number rolled by the Dice Block, they can be stopped on or passed. There are some spaces that cannot be stopped on, such as the Star Space. More than one character can stop on a space.

Throughout the Mario Party series, there have been several different spaces. Some are recurring, but there are some that appear only in certain games. The shapes of the spaces have also changed throughout the series, ranging from circular to hexagonal. Almost all spaces have special features. The most common spaces that have appeared in nearly every Mario Party game are the Blue Spaces and Red Spaces, which add three coins and subtract three coins, respectively.
