Arrangements[edit]

Yoshi's Island series[edit]

Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]

An arrangement of "Athletic BGM" can be heard in Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. This version is more compressed than the original SNES version and uses different, lower-quality synthetic instruments.

Fortune Street[edit]

Fortune Street features a new arrangement of "Athletic BGM" very similar to the version heard in Itadaki Street DS. Like in Itadaki Street DS, this arrangement plays on Venture squares and during the Dart of Gold minigame.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl features an upbeat arrangement of the theme, titled "Obstacle Course" arranged by Shota Kageyama, and it can be played on the Yoshi's Island stage. The track is actually a combination of two separate arrangements: an energetic one that plays during the spring and summer phases of the stage (which also contains a brief excerpt from Baby Bowser's theme), and a relaxed one that plays during the fall and winter phases. In custom stages and the Sound Test, only the spring and summer variation is available.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl also features an arrangement of "Flower Field BGM" from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, titled "Yoshi's Island". This arrangement includes a brief arrangement of "Athletic BGM". It can also be played on the Yoshi's Island stage.

"Obstacle Course" returns in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, where its two seasonal variants have been divided into two separate tracks: "Obstacle Course (Spring/Summer)" and "Obstacle Course (Fall/Winter)". In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, it can be played on Yoshi's Island stage, and in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, it can be played on the Woolly World stage.

"Obstacle Course" returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where the seasonal variants have once again been combined into a single medley track, this time titled "Obstacle Course - Yoshi's Island". "Yoshi's Island" also returns, now titled "Yoshi's Island (Brawl)". Both tracks can be played on any Super Smash Bros.-series and Yoshi-series stage.

Mario Kart series[edit]

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe introduced Yoshi's Island, a course based on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, in Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass along with an arrangement of "Athletic BGM" that serves as the course's background music.

Like other courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the theme speeds up and slightly rises in pitch during the last lap of the race. Also, additional percussion is added to the arrangement's instrumentation when the player is driving at top speed while in first place.

Mario Kart Tour[edit]

The Yoshi's Island course returns in Mario Kart Tour beginning with the 2023 Yoshi Tour, along with a new arrangement of "Athletic BGM". This arrangement is extremely similar to the one heard in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but uses slightly different instrumentation.

WarioWare: Move It![edit]

In WarioWare: Move It!, a faithful arrangement of "Athletic BGM" very similar to the original plays during the Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island microgame. Its tempo has also been changed to match the ticking of the bomb, and the theme's pitch increases as the microgame's speed increases.[3]

Other arrangements[edit]

Mario & Zelda Big Band Live[edit]

A live bluegrass arrangement of "Athletic BGM" with fiddle, mandolin, and banjo instrumentation with upright bass accompaniment titled 「ヨッシーアイランド アスレチックのテーマ」 (Yosshī Airando Asurechikku no Tēma, "Yoshi's Island Athletic Theme") is featured in Mario & Zelda Big Band Live, which was later released as a CD and DVD recording.
