Fire watermelons, also referred to as red watermelons[1][2] (alternatively Red Watermelons) or Fire Melons,[3] are items in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (and its reissue) and Yoshi's New Island. If a Yoshi eats one of these hot, fiery red watermelons, he can shoot fire thrice in the original game and five times in Yoshi's New Island, and it can be used to defeat enemies, melt Ice Blocks, and deal more damage than a regular green watermelon in the Mini Battle called Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest. In Yoshi's New Island, red watermelons appear in Harry Hedgehog's Labyrinth and Fire Watermelon Wonderland.

The Super Red Watermelon[4] Special Item is available in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, and the All-you-can-eat fire watermelon! Power Badge is available in Yoshi's Woolly World. Using them automatically places a fire watermelon in a Yoshi's mouth, allowing him to have its ability at nearly any point. In Yoshi's Island, using a Super Red Watermelon allows a Yoshi to spit fire nine times instead of the usual three.

In Nintendo Puzzle Collection, fire, ice, and regular Watermelons cascade down the screen when a stage of Round 9 is cleared in the Action Mode of Yoshi no Cookie.
