- “Watch for gusts of wind from those stone masks! Time your movements so you don't get blown away. Lucky for you, they CAN be destroyed! Now get out there - on three! Ready... BREAK!”
- —Electroid, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Icy Breath of Winter is a Darkmess Tentacle battle in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, located at the top of the mountain in Pristine Peaks. It is the first Darkmess Tentacle battle of the planet. This battle is part of the main quest Cold Mouth of the Mountain. There are three giant Stone Masks which must all be destroyed. The heroes must make it up several cliffs to reach to the Stone Masks. They must also beware of the gusts of wind they "breathe". This is the first battle where the heroes can bring up to two Sparks each, and Electroid joins the heroes after the battle. The heroes also obtain a Purified Darkmess Energy Crystal, and the blizzard on Pristine Peaks stops.
Layout[edit]
First Stone Mask[edit]
The heroes start close to the first Stone Mask. There are two enemies close to it as well; a Bob-omb and a Flamin' Stooge. The Flamin' Stooge is on a nearby cliff. After the Stone Mask is destroyed, a pipe is revealed, and the heroes can use it to reach the second Stone Mask.
Second Stone Mask[edit]
The path to the Second Stone Mask has two Bob-ombs close to the pipe used to get here, and a ramp and another pipe lead to higher ground, which consists of two Flamin' Stooges on the left side and two Lone Wolves on the right. Two more Bob-ombs also appear close to the Stone Mask, apart from each other. After the second Stone Mask is destroyed, both a ramp and a pipe are revealed, and the heroes can use these to travel to the third and final Stone Mask.
Third Stone Mask[edit]
After the second Stone Mask, there is a small section that consists of two Bob-ombs, a Flamin' Stooge, and on high ground, a Lone Wolf. Two pipes lead to even higher ground, which leads to the third Stone Mask. There are four Bob-ombs close to it, along with two Lone Wolves at both sides, with the right one being on high ground, which has a pipe that connects to behind the high ground. After the third Stone Mask is destroyed, the battle is won.
Battle[edit]
Darkmess portals can appear near the second and third Stone Masks, and they only contain one Bob-omb for each portal, but they appear every turn, alternating sides close to the Stone Masks until the Stone Masks are destroyed.
