Bury the Hatchet is a Spark Quest in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, located on the planet Palette Prime. The heroes can do this Quest after clearing out both Darkmess Tentacles. The heroes can talk to Woodrow, who tells them that the Sweetie Pie Honey Snookums Bridge is destroyed, and nearby lumberjack Sweetlopek must fix it. The heroes find Sweetlopek, who has had his axe stolen. With the help of a Spark known as Vampastra, the heroes eventually find the culprit and get the axe back. After this Quest is completed, Vampastra joins the heroes on their adventure, a Planet Coin is obtained, and the next Spark Quest is unlocked: A Dryad's Dream.
Format[edit]
Sweetlopek without his axe[edit]
After talking to Woodrow, who informs the heroes that the Sweetie Pie Honey Snookums Bridge is broken, the heroes can find Sweetlopek by revealing a hidden bridge by using Beep-0's Scan Power. They find Sweetlopek, along with a Spark known as Vampastra, who watches the former trying many methods to cut a single piece of wood without an axe: first a broom, which snaps in half, then his elbow, followed by a plunger, his hand, scissors to trim away at the wood, a rolled up newspaper, which catches the wood on fire, then Sweetlopek seemingly gives up. He then does one final attempt - by gnawing at the wood. While doing this, he notices the heroes, and drops the wood on the ground, which then breaks in two. Vampastra tells the heroes that Sweetlopek's axe was stolen, and so he is unable to fix the bridge. Vampastra then tells that it knows who stole Sweetlopek's axe, and leads the heroes to Paletteville.
The villager at the Pumpkin House[edit]
- “This is the right house! I saw the thief head for it with the axe in-hand. At least, I think I did.”
- —Vampastra, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Vampastra leads the heroes to a Pumpkin House, but the inhabitant of it, Hinky, claims that he heard someone at the other Pumpkin House bragging about their new axe. The heroes then head there.
The villager at the other Pumpkin House[edit]
- “Find "The Songbird" at his home. That busybody sees EVERYTHING. If anyone here DID steal the axe, he'll know.”
- —Rabbid, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
The heroes listen to Hinky's advice and enter the other Pumpkin House. Inside, they find the inhabitant, and Beep-0 tries to go undercover, telling the Rabbid that the heroes are from the Palette Prime Peat Solutions, clearing out their house of hippopotamus. The Rabbid declares that as the worst lie ever, and tells the heroes that it did not steal the axe, and that The Songbird is the one who knows everything, and he will know who stole the axe. The heroes then set out to look for The Songbird.
The Songbird's diary[edit]
- “Ahem! "Had to run to the shop today instead of keeping an eye on things. Bumped into my neighbor, 'The Fork'". "HE said he saw someone run through the village with an AXE while I was gone! Of all the days to run out of pumpkin deodorant!"”
- —Beep-0, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Upon entering The Songbird's house, they discover that he is not home, and find what Beep-0 calls a note, but Rabbid Peach corrects him, saying that it is his diary. Beep-0 reads it, discovering that The Songbird's neighbor, known as The Fork, claims that he saw someone with the axe. Before the heroes set out to look for The Fork, Vampastra tells the group that it has recruited a confidential informant, but it is too late, as the heroes already know about The Fork. The heroes then set out to look for The Fork.
The Fork and the lost Magic Whetstone[edit]
- “The thief is... ...the villager at the Pumpkin House!”
- —The Fork, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
When the heroes enter The Fork's house, they discover his diary, which Beep-0 reads, much to the annoyance of Rabbid Peach. Through his diary, the group discovers that The Fork is tired of his neighbors boasting about their pitchforks, and so he wants to find the Magic Whetstone to become better than his neighbors, and he will not return until he does. The heroes then find The Fork on the edge of Paletteville, who will not tell who the culprit is until they find the Magic Whetstone for him. Vampastra leads the heroes to it, and using Beep-0's Scan Power, the Magic Whetstone is revealed. They give it to The Fork, who tells them that the thief was getting sweet-talked by the Dryad in Spellbound Woods, who proceeded to sneak inside Sweetlopek's cabin, stole his axe, and runs away from Sweetlopek's beaver/hat. The Fork then tells of the culprit: the village at the Pumpkin House, revealing that it was Hinky all along. Angry, the group rushes to Hinky's house.
The culprit exposed[edit]
- “That part wasn't my fault, I swear! I was just supposed to keep the axe hidden! That angry goo showed up out of nowhere! You know, when you think about it, it's really the PUDDLE that's ultimately the guilty party here.”
- —Hinky, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
The group makes it back to Hinky's house, who still thinks that the group does not have any evidence. The player can then make a choice for evidence, either "The Dryad", "The Break In", or "The Beaver". Regardless of what the player chooses, Hinky will then confess that he did steal the axe, but he needs help. The group then enters his house, only to discover a Darkmess Puddle inside, trapping the axe.
The Stolen Axe[edit]
- Main article: The Stolen Axe
The heroes must then clear out the Darkmess Puddle in a battle, known as The Stolen Axe. The heroes must traverse across a large battlefield to reach to the axe on the other side. After a hero reaches the axe, the battle is won.
The axe retrieved[edit]
- “She can't even be found - not unless she wants to be. Her lair is DEEP in the forest. Enough! I can't even fix the bridge thanks to her meddling! I'm putting an end to this feud, once and for all!”
- —Sweetlopek, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
After the Darkmess Puddle is cleared, Sweetlopek arrives at Hinky's house to retrieve his axe. Hinky then apologizes to Sweetlopek, claiming that he was only following the orders of the Dryad. Sweetlopek then declares that he must end the feud with him and the Dryad so that he can fix the bridge, as she will not allow him to chop more wood. Sweetlopek then makes his way to Spellbound Woods to look for the Dryad. Beep-0, still angry at Hinky, declares to put him in court, and then Jail. Hinky then tells him that there is not a courthouse or a jail, but Woodrow just makes the citizens write an apology poem. Beep-0 then gets confused, and declares that the case is closed, and will make JEANIE handle the paperwork. The Quest is then complete, and Vampastra joins the heroes on their adventure. Another Quest immediately unlocks, which is a continuation known as "A Dryad's Dream".
