Bob-omb Cannons are enemy artillery in the Super Mario series and special items in Mario Kart Tour. They are cannons that exclusively fire Bob-ombs—never cannonballs. In Super Mario Bros. 3 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, this trait is shared with some normal cannons without them being recognized as a separate object.[2]
History[edit]
Super Mario series[edit]
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
Bob-omb Cannons are the only type of enemy cannon in New Super Mario Bros. 2 and appear only in the secret course World 2-B. They are angled diagonally and fire Para-bombs into the sky that slowly drift down. Some Bob-omb Cannons rotate left and right between fires.
New Super Luigi U[edit]
Bob-omb Cannons are one of the few obstacles to appear in New Super Luigi U that do not appear in New Super Mario Bros. U. In this title, they look identical to the normal mortars from the latter game, but they exclusively fire Bob-ombs. They appear only in Bowser Jr. Showdown, alongside the giant cannons. Normal cannons do not appear in New Super Luigi U.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder[edit]
Bob-omb Cannons in Super Mario Bros. Wonder appear only in Fluff-Puff Peaks Flying Battleship, fastened to the top of pushable walls.[conjectural] They share their design with the short Bill Blasters in the game, but they function as they did in previous games. Like New Super Luigi U, they launch Bob-ombs, as Parabombs are not in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Mario Kart Tour[edit]
In Mario Kart Tour, the Bob-omb Cannon is the special skill of Black Shy Guy, Mario (Happi), Builder Toad, Peach (Explorer), King Boo (Luigi's Mansion), Wario (Hiker), Dry Bowser (Gold), Bowser Jr. (Pirate), Birdo (Black), Waluigi (Vampire), and the Castle, Brown, and Spike Mii Racing Suits. Wario, Waluigi, and Diddy Kong also have access to the item in Take them out quick! bonus challenges. When used, it appears on the front of the player's kart and shoots out Bob-ombs in front of it. Once ten Bob-ombs are fired, the cannon disappears. During a Bob-omb Cannon Frenzy, Bob-ombs surround the player and the cannon shoots three Bob-ombs each time it fires. When Bob-omb Cannon+ is active, a second cannon is added, allowing the player to shoot even more Bob-ombs.
