Wonder POW Blocks[1] are giant red-orange glowing POW Blocks created with the power of a Wonder Flower. They appear exclusively in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder level Beware of the Rifts while the level's Wonder Effect is active, where they can be found floating in several locations around the area where the Wonder Tokens must be collected. When inactive, each of the Wonder POW Blocks becomes a square of four Hard Blocks.

Like normal POW Blocks, Wonder POW Blocks can be hit from below or Ground Pounded to create a large shockwave. Uniquely, Wonder POW Blocks do not get used up by being hit, and can be used to cause shockwaves indefinitely. The shockwave of a Wonder POW Block is similar to that of a Red POW Block, as it will destory Brick Blocks, activate ? Blocks, and defeat Rift Koopas in their range. The range of Wonder POW Blocks is much greater, being screen-filling like standard POW Blocks. Wonder POW Blocks are primarily used in the Wonder Effect to stun Rift Mario and temporarily prevent him from chasing the player. Several of the Wonder POW Blocks are placed near large mushrooms in the background, which react to hitting the Wonder POW Block. Hitting them will cause the mushroom to noticeably shake with the earthquake, and three strikes causes the mushroom to crack and fall over. This effect is purely decorative, and the mushrooms will remain fallen after ending the Wonder Effect.
