The Flower Cup is a trophy available in many racing and sports games. Consistently, the level of difficulty increases slightly from the previous Mushroom Cup, but not substantially. In many other games, such as Mario Power Tennis, the Flower Cup is renamed the Fire Cup, yet is represented with a Fire Flower. The cup is a representation of four or five courses in the Mario Kart series. As usual, the difficulty level of this cup is a bit more than the previous, and typically has more dynamic and gimmicky tracks in comparison. This cup has Mario Circuit (or in the case of Mario Kart 64, Mario Raceway), with the exception of Mario Kart DS (where it is in the Star Cup). The emblem of the Flower Cup is represented by the Fire Flower. Completing this cup unlocks the Star Cup from Mario Kart Wii onwards. It is always a cup available from the start with the exception of Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8, where is unlockable by beating the Mushroom Cup.

Other Appearances

The cup appears also in sports-themed Mario games like Super Mario Strikers and Mario Superstar Baseball. In Super Mario Strikers, the Flower Cup has six teams, five rounds, and uses the table system. When the player finishes in the top three, the Crater Field and the Star Cup are unlocked. A similar cup is the Super Flower Cup. The Flower Cup is also one of three playable tournaments in Mario Sports Mix.

In Mario Tennis Open, the Flower Cup is the second in the World Open tournament. It is played on the Wario Dunes court, and the CPU difficulty is a little bit harder than that of the Mushroom Cup's. The cup is unlocked by beating the Mushroom Cup.

Trivia

  • Mario Kart DS's Flower Cup is the only version of the cup that has no course named after Mario.
  • The Flower Cup is the only Nitro cup to have a Waluigi-themed course.
  • Since Mario Kart DS, the 4th track in the Flower Cup has a mountain in it. Shroom Ridge is on the edge of a mountain, Wario's Gold Mine is set in between two mountains, Rock Rock Mountain is a mountain and Shy Guy Falls has a massive tabletop-like mountain with the waterfalls.
