The Elite Captain Quartet is a division of the Koopa Troop formed by four of its former captains. The group debuted in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions and later reappeared in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey.

History

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

The Elite Captain Quartet is first formed in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, when Captain Koopa Troopa becomes the fourth Captain in Teehee Valley to help the Goomba Squad in their mission to save Bowser. At the end, when Bowser is about to reinstate Captain Goomba as captain of the Minions, he suddenly remembers that the Goomba was responsible for his amnesia, promptly chasing him to take away his title and flag instead.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, the former captains have regained their flags through unknown means. They are fought twice in Bowser's Castle (east), with each one being battled individually throughout separate stages. Morton Koopa Jr. informs Bowser Jr. of how they were responsible for saving Bowser in the Beanbean Kingdom, but the prince does not initially believe it. The full group then fights in unison during The Power of Junior, alongside King Bob-omb. They reappear together during The Trio Clash! in Bowser's Castle (west), where they rescue Wendy O. Koopa from the Best Fitness Friends. During the level, they act as Bowser Jr.'s troops. Ludwig von Koopa reassures Junior of the quartet's capabilities, citing the incident in the Beanbean Kingdom, which leads to him joining them in the fight against the BFF.
