Watermelons,[1][2] also referred to as green watermelons (or Green Watermelons), are normal watermelons found in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (and its remake), Yoshi's New Island, and Yoshi's Woolly World. If a Yoshi swallows a watermelon, the Yoshi can spit up to 30 seeds. Ukikis have many watermelons, some half-eaten, which they use to spit seeds at the Yoshi; if the Yoshi grabs one of these, it will give the Yoshi only 10 seeds to spit. The seeds have the same effect on enemies as an egg.

A Yoshi and a Bandit duel with spitting watermelon seeds at one another in a Mini Battle Game called Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest. Whoever spits as many watermelon seeds as possible until the other's HP runs out as shown on the HP bar wins the minigame.

The Super Green Watermelon[3] Special Item is available in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, and it gives a Yoshi as many as 60 seeds. The All-you-can-eat watermelon![2] Power Badge in Yoshi's Woolly World automatically places a watermelon in a Yoshi's mouth, allowing him to have its ability at nearly any point.

In Yoshi's New Island, partially eaten watermelons appear in Ukiki Jammin' and Ride the Blarggwich, while full watermelons appear exclusively in Ride the Blarggwich.

In the Super Mario Mash-up for Minecraft, Melons are replaced by Watermelons.
