Yoshi pulling ahead by Slipstreaming in Mario Kart Wii

Slipstreaming (also known as Drafting) is a technique often used in the Mario Kart series. It is present in Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Mario Kart Tour . If a player trails behind another racer (or tailgating) for a certain period of time, the player's vehicle will receive a speed boost similar to the Mini-Turbo. This can be used to ram the vehicle the player is slipstreaming behind and race ahead into a higher place. Slipstreaming is also useful when another player has been shrunk by Lightning or the Thunder Cloud, and also when they are hit by the POW Block or Spiny Shell.
