In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Mechawfuls are found in Peach's Castle Garden. Bowser can inhale the head, preventing the Mechawful from reassembling its body. Mario and Luigi can then fight the head of the Mechawful inside Bowser. As the Bros, the head attacks by flying over one of the Bros. and falling straight down, which can be countered with the hammer. Occasionally, the head is destroyed with the body when the Mechawful has self-destructed, or when it is destroyed as a result of a counter-attack.
The Mechawful will only award experience and coins for defeating the head of the robot (not the rest of the body) at the end of the battle. It may also cause the player to become dizzy.
Like most other large enemies, Bowser can use the Vacuum Block to inhale a Blitty from Mechawfuls. Mechawfuls also appear in the battle against Super Peach's Castle of Fury, where they are used in an attack along with a big yellow variant. Also, a dark blue variant called the Dark Mechawful can be battled by Bowser.
In the remake, the Mechawful's roulette light attack is removed, and replaced with an attack that involves a shield. The Mechawful will generate a shield which must be punched (or hammered) four times to break, then they can attack the Mechawful to push it back. They also no longer try to land on Mario and Luigi in the overworld.

Mechawfuls, renamed Mecha-Fawfuls, appear in the Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser mode of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, where they are shown as the ones responsible for the initial destruction of Beanbean Castle Town, and later appear as enemies in the final story level Believe in Bowser. Unlike the Mechawfuls of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, these Mecha-Fawfuls have a patchwork-like design and crooked antennae. There is no generic type of Mecha-Fawful, with them instead coming in three variants:
*Mecha-Fawful X, which have wrecking ball hands and wheels akin to Dark Mechawfuls
*Mecha-Fawful Y, which is a Mechawful head with arms akin to Dark Mechawful heads
*Mecha-Fawful Z, which has legs like the original Mechawful, while their arms have elbows and end in Piranha Plant-like jaws.
All three are weak against Broozer and Starlow.

One of the attacks a Mechawful can use is fly towards one of the Mario Bros and attempts to hit the Mario Bros with its fist. The brother must hammer the Mechawful multiple times to prevent this from happening. It can also attempt to land on one of the Mario Bros. If the player is unsure of what attack they will use, they can watch the dust marks to see what attack the Mechawful is using.

Mechawfuls are robots based on Fawful, first appearing in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and later in the Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser mode of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions.

History[edit]

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey[edit]

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Mechawfuls are found in Peach's Castle Garden. They can attack by landing in front of one of the Mario Bros. or Bowser and attempt to hit them with its fist. The player must hammer or Punch the Mechawful to trigger a roulette-type action. Once the roulette is activated, the Mechawful's chest will light up and eyes will cycle through the colors yellow, blue, and red. Attacking it again will cause the roulette to stop.

 • If blue, the Mechawful returns to its place without attacking.
 • If yellow, the Mechawful will use a counterattack.
 • If red, the Mechawful will self-destruct, harming the player.

An alternate attack used by the Mechawful is to fly straight up and out of the screen, landing directly on the player from above. The Bros. can knock this attack away with the hammer, with a dust cloud signifying what Bro. is being targeted. Bowser must hold down his Shell defense until the Mechawful becomes exhausted and falls onto the floor.

When defeated, the Mechawful Head[1] detaches from the body and will either fly away, attack, or summon a new body on the next turn.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[edit]

 • Mecha-Fawful X, which have wrecking ball hands and wheels akin to Dark Mechawfuls
 • Mecha-Fawful Y, which is a Mechawful head with arms akin to Dark Mechawful heads
 • Mecha-Fawful Z, which has legs like the original Mechawful, while their arms have elbows and end in Piranha Plant-like jaws.

All three are weak against Broozer and Starlow.
