Whispy Woods is a commonly-recurring tree character from the Kirby series. He has made some appearances in the Super Mario franchise, including the Club Nintendo magazine and Super Mario-kun.

History[edit]

Club Nintendo magazine[edit]

Whispy Woods is a minor character in "Super Mario: Mario im Wunderland." He is the first character whom Mario encounters in Wunderland. Whispy Woods advises Mario to go to Crab, a wizard who is able to fulfill desires, rather than fulfill an antagonistic role like in the Kirby games.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

In volume 7 of Super Mario-kun, Whispy Woods makes a cameo in one panel, apparently among the "items" stolen by the collector.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

SmashWiki article: Whispy Woods

Whispy Woods is a stage hazard in the Super Smash Bros. series. He is encountered in the Dream Land stage introduced in Super Smash Bros. (also returning in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) and the Green Greens stage introduced in Super Smash Bros. Melee (also returning in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate). Whispy Winds blows wind in a direction, possibly causing characters to fall off of a stage, and since Super Smash Bros. Melee, Whispy Woods can cause apples to drop from shaking.

There are a few collectible items of Whispy Woods. A trophy of him is in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. A spirit of him is in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

A boss enemy from Kirby's Dream Land, Whispy Woods is a big tree that shoots whirlwinds at Kirby. It isn't the toughest enemy: all Kirby has to do is avoid the occasional whirlwind, suck in apples that fall down, and then shoot them back at the tree. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Whispy Woods is quite the blowhard.

Whispy Woods lives deep in the forest, waiting patiently for Kirby to stop by so he can share his delicious apples with the pink hero... That's not true at all, actually. Instead, he drops apples on Kirby, trying to cause him injury. He may look friendly, but remember what they say: don't judge a tree by its bark. (American English)
In the heart of a beautiful green forest, Whispy Woods is waiting to give Kirby some juicy red apples. Isn't that nice? Well...not really, since he drops them on Kirby's head like bombs. If that wasn't bad enough, he'll also suck up the pink puffball and blast him with air. Note to self: be more wary of trees with faces. (British English)
