100m is a track Athletics Event in the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. It is set in the National Stadium. The starting world record for this event is 9.74 seconds, while the starting Olympic record is 9.84 seconds.
Gameplay[edit]
Players try to run the 100 meters in the fastest time. The characters and their respective lane numbers are shown before they assume their starting position. When "Ready?" appears on the screen, the player has the option to touch and hold the stylus on the Touch Screen and then release when "Go!" appears for a faster start. The player slides the stylus right when they begin to run, but doing it too early results in a foul, forcing the event to restart. A Boo slows the player if they do a foul a second time in a row.[citation needed] The player slides left and right on the touch screen to have their character build up speed and run faster. An exclamation mark appears over the character's head if they are near the finish line, so tapping once on the Touch Screen allows them to lunge across the finish line faster. The player who crosses the end first wins.
