A Pause Block[1] is a block in Super Mario Run that stops the character from moving when they are standing on it. In World Tour mode, the timer also stops when a character is on a Pause Block. If the player taps the screen, the Pause Block will send the character in the direction shown, and the timer will resume. If the Pause Block points to the right, the character rolls off. This grants a brief burst of speed, notably just enough to vault while in a Ghost House. If the Pause Block points diagonally up to the right, the character jumps off. Certain Pause Blocks cause a trail of coins to appear when activated for the first time.
