Ice watermelon
Blue watermelon in Yoshi's New Island
Description
A cold blue watermelon
First appearance Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (1995)
Latest appearance Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World (2017)
Effect Allows a Yoshi to blow ice blasts

Ice watermelons, also referred to as blue watermelons[1][2] (or Blue Watermelons), are items in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (and its reissue) and Yoshi's New Island. If a Yoshi eats one of these frozen blue watermelons, he will be able to blow three blasts of ice in the original game and five in Yoshi's New Island. The ice can freeze enemies solid, and they can then be smashed to pieces. In Yoshi's New Island and Yoshi's Woolly World, enemies that are frozen slide along the ground when touched by a Yoshi.

The Super Blue Watermelon[3] Special Item is available in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its reissue, and the All-you-can-eat ice watermelon! Power Badge is available in Yoshi's Woolly World. Using them automatically places an ice watermelon in the air suspended by a propeller, allowing a Yoshi to have its ability at nearly any point, as new ice watermelons appear following him. In Yoshi's Island, using a Super Blue Watermelon allows a Yoshi to spit ice nine times instead of the usual three.

In Nintendo Puzzle Collection, ice, fire, and regular Watermelons cascade down the screen when a stage of Round 9 is cleared in the Action Mode of Yoshi no Cookie.
