Sand tides debut in Super Mario World, appearing in Donut Plains 2 and Valley of Bowser 2. Sand tides are sandy yellow platforms that vary in size.

Super Mario Galaxy

In Super Mario Galaxy, sand tides appear in Dusty Dune Galaxy. In the Pyramid Planet, they appear in the form of walls that move up or down when activated. Once all five Silver Stars are collected, the sand tides sink and disappear. On the Sand Tide Planet, it slowly moves up and down and have Stumps, Notes, and Coins hidden in it.
