Platforms with extremely similar function appear in some of the Yoshi's Island and I think New Super Mario Bros. games (they're ostensibly not sand - although I'm not sure if the Super Mario World one was really supposed to be despite the name we have); however, it may be better placed here than in the Cascading Stone article, though that may mean renaming the article to "Sliding Block". - I'm thinking more of this being a type of moving wall as seen in World 7-Tower (New Super Mario Bros.) and #2 Morton's Castle from Super Mario World. However, I can't find an article related to moving obstacles designed to crush players.
